How to Make Roses Out of Jolly Ranchers Candy

### How to Make Roses Out Of Jolly Ranchers

1. Gather Your Materials

- Jolly Rancher candies various flavors

- toothpicks

- candy thermometer

- parchment paper

- cookie sheet

- glass or bowl filled with ice and water

- kitchen gloves

2. Prepare the Jolly Ranchers

- Unwrap the Jolly Rancher candies and separate depending on the flavors you intend to use. These are the colors we recommend using for each section of the rose.

---

Bottom leaves: Green apple or Watermelon Jolly Ranchers

Middle leaves: Red cherry, Berry Blue or Grape Jolly Ranchers

Top flower petals: Pink lemonade or Strawberry Jolly Ranchers

---

- Once separated place each color of Jolly Ranchers in a single layer across a cookie sheet.

3. Preheat Your Oven

- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Bake the Jolly Ranchers

- Place in the oven until they melt into puddles with bubbles on the surface. This will take about 5-10 minutes, but time may vary depending on your oven. Use a candy thermometer to ensure the candy reaches 300 degrees Fahrenheit before removing them from the oven.

5. Remove the pan from the oven and work quickly.

- Wearing your gloves, remove the pan from the oven and transfer to a work surface covered in parchment paper. Be careful not to touch the hot pan.

6. Form the Bottom Leaves

- Pick up a green Jolly Rancher using the toothpick. Drape the candy across your pointer finger and pull the sides down to create the rose leaves for the bottom layer of the rose. Once you have formed the leaf shape, submerge the entire toothpick into the ice water to immediately harden the candy into that shape.

- Repeat this process to create enough bottom leaves to encase the base of the rose.

7. Form the Middle Leaves

- Repeat the same process to form the middle layer of leaves, changing colors to your preferred color and gently folding it around the base of the bottom layer. Submerge in ice water to set in place.

8. Form the Top Layer

- Continue the same process with your chosen color for the top layer of petals, folding the edges carefully around the middle layer to create a flower shape. Set in ice water to harden when completed.

- Repeat this process until the rose is complete.

Additional Tips

- Be sure to work quickly when the Jolly Ranchers are melted, as they will harden quickly.

- If the candy hardens before you are finished molding it, simply reheat it in the oven for a few seconds to melt it again.

- You can use different colors of Jolly Ranchers to create different colored roses.

- Jolly Rancher roses make great gifts for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or any other special occasion.
