How Long Before Blueberry Bushes Produce?

Blueberries are summer fruit bushes that grow well in all areas of the country. These bushes are unique in the fruit world in that they require a cooler winter and are are hardy to many of the colder growing zones. They require a specific number of years before producing fruit.
  1. Age

    • According to the Ohio State University Extension, blueberry bushes require three years of growth and maturity before they begin to flower and produce fruit.

    Maturity

    • Blueberry bushes aren't considered to be mature until they're six years old. Until maturity, a bush will produce only semi-full fruit harvests and growth.

    Season

    • Blueberry bushes begin to bloom in early summer and require the summer season to grow their fruit harvest. Blueberries will not appear on the bush until July to August.
