Press a foam brick down into your terra-cotta pot. The pot should be large and heavy so it can support the weight of the strawberry tree.
Push your dowel or tree branch down into the floral foam brick, and cover the brick and the base of the branch with Spanish moss. This gives your tree an attractive base.
Wipe down the outside of your plastic-covered ball with mild dish soap and a damp cloth. Rinse it thoroughly, leaving the plastic in place. This keeps your guests from eating foam bits.
Push your ball down onto the dowel or stick. The stick will poke through the plastic, but the plastic should remain taut on the rest of the tree.
Starting at the top center of the ball, poke a toothpick halfway down into the ball. Push a fresh strawberry upside-down onto the toothpick. Surround the first strawberry with six more strawberries, creating circles this way all the way around your ball.
Fill in any gaps on your tree with mint leaves on toothpicks.
