How To Use Potato Flakes for Mice Control

Using Potato Flakes for Mice Control

Potato flakes can be used as an inexpensive and effective way to control mice populations. Here's how to use them:

1. Prepare the Flakes:

You will need:

- Potato Flakes

- Instant Dry Milk Powder

- Dry Plaster of Paris (Calcium Sulfate)

- A mixing bowl

- A pestle or spoon

Mix the dry ingredients together in the following ratio:

- 2 parts Potato Flakes

- 1 part Dry Milk Powder

- 1 part Plaster of Paris

Mix the ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined.

2. Place Bait Stations:

You can use shallow dishes, disposable cups, or bait stations to place the potato flakes mixture. Place the bait in areas where you have noticed mouse activity, such as under sinks, behind appliances, in corners of rooms, and in any other areas where you have seen mouse droppings.

3. Add Water:

Add enough water to the mixture to make it crumbly but moist enough to hold together when gently pressed. The goal is to create a consistency that entices mice to eat but doesn't allow them to carry it away.

4. Place the Bait Stations:

Place the bait stations in areas where you have noticed mouse activity. Make sure they are out of reach of children and pets.

5. Monitor and Replenish:

Check the bait stations regularly and replenish the mixture as needed. Mice may consume a significant amount of the mixture in a short period, especially if there is a large population.

6. Additional Tips:

- Ensure proper sanitation by cleaning up food crumbs and spills, as these can attract mice.

- Try to seal any holes or cracks in walls, floors, and foundations where mice can enter your home.

- Use humane traps to capture and release mice if you prefer a non-lethal approach.

Remember that potato flakes are not a substitute for professional pest control services if you are dealing with a significant mouse infestation or health and safety concerns.
