How to Troubleshoot Gecko Whirlpool Tubs

Gecko whirlpool tubs are available with a series of spa pack systems. Their M, S and U class spa packs feature wireless remote control, a keypad and a pressure detection system. These features are designed to give a spa experience customized to your needs. Problems with heat or basic operation can occur while using your Gecko whirlpool, but troubleshooting can often resolve these problems without a call to a technician.

Instructions

  1. Heating Problems

    • 1

Check the control panel on the topside of your Gecko system. If it shows three flashing dots below the temperature readout, inspect the valves to ensure they are open.

    • 2

Turn the power off and restart your spa to reset the system to its default settings.

    • 3

Remove the filter canister from the skimmer basket. Take the filter from the cartridge and clean away debris and scale using a hose. If the filter has a significant amount of buildup, let it soak overnight in a filter cleaning solution you can purchase at any spa or pool dealer.

    • 4

Allow the filter to dry before replacing it in the filter canister and reinstalling it in your whirlpool. Gecko whirlpool filters should be cleaned at least every three months.

    • 5

Ensure the water level is just over the door on the filter basket and that the slip valves, located on each side of the pump motor, are extended.

    • 6

Check the high limit reset button located on the spa pack. If the temperature of the water has reached the preset temperature limit, the reset button may trip out. Press it back in to reset it.

    • 7

Check the high limit indicator light, located on the circuit board inside your spa pack. If this red light is flashing, the whirlpool may have overheated. Contact a technician for repair.

    • 8

Turn off the power to your whirlpool and adjust the pressure switch, turning it from right to left in small increments if the high limit indicator light is not on. If the three lights on the control panel still flash after you adjust the pressure, repeat turning off the power to adjust the pressure switch one more small turn and try again.

    Interrupted or No Power

    • 9

Check the breaker connected to your whirlpool and reset it if it has tripped.

    • 10

Ensure you have not connected any other appliance to the same circuit as your whirlpool. If you have, disconnect and reset the breaker.

    • 11

Replace power cords that have any signs of damage. Avoid using extension cords to provide power for your whirlpool.

    • 12

Turn off the power and remove the filter canister from the skimmer basket.

    • 13

Remove the filter from the cartridge and clean away debris and scale using a hose. If the filter has a significant amount of buildup, let it soak overnight in a filter cleaning solution which you can buy at any spa or pool dealer.

    • 14

Allow the filter to dry before replacing the filter in the filter canister and reinstalling it in your whirlpool. Gecko whirlpool filters should be cleaned at least every three months.

    • 15

Unplug the blower from the spa pack and reset the breaker. Turn the power back on, and if the breaker doesn’t trip when the blower is disconnected, your blower is malfunctioning and must be replaced.

    • 16

Unplug the ozonator from the spa pack and reset the breaker, then turn the whirlpool’s power back on. If the breaker does not trip, your ozonator is malfunctioning.

    • 17

Contact an electrician if the breaker continues to trip after unplugging the blower and the ozonator.
