A shower splash guard is a simple and effective way to keep water from splashing out of your shower and onto your bathroom floor. It's a great way to keep your bathroom dry and prevent water damage.
- Clear plastic shower curtain liner (72" x 78")
- Fabric shower curtain (72" x 78")
- Fabric glue
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Pins
- Sewing machine (optional)
Step 1: Cut the Shower Curtain Liner
Cut the shower curtain liner to the size of your shower opening, plus 6 inches on all sides. If your shower opening is 72 inches wide and 78 inches high, you will need a piece of shower curtain liner that is 84 inches wide and 86 inches high.
Step 2: Cut the Fabric Shower Curtain
Cut your fabric shower curtain to the size of the plastic liner you just cut, so it will be the same size as the plastic shower curtain liner, which should be 84 inches wide and 86 inches high.
Step 3: Pin the Fabric Shower Curtain to the Plastic Liner
With right sides together, pin the fabric shower curtain to the plastic curtain liner, starting at one of the short sides. Trim any excess fabric so the fabric is smooth against the plastic liner.
Step 4: Sew the Fabric Shower Curtain to the Plastic Liner
Stitch around all four sides of the pinned shower curtain, leaving a 1/4-inch seam. Backstitch at the beginning and end of each seam to secure.
If you don’t have a sewing machine, this can be done by hand or by using a fabric fusing tape to connect the two pieces of curtain together.
Step 5: Add Fabric Glue
Add fabric glue along the seams and hems to help secure everything.
Step 6: Hang the Splash Guard in Your Shower
Once dry, hang the shower splash guard in your shower by threading the plastic hooks through the grommets.
Now you can enjoy your showers without constantly reaching for a towel to soak up water on the floor.
