How to Cut a Rounded Edge onto Stair Tread

To cut a rounded edge onto a stair tread, you will need the following tools:

* A circular saw

* A jigsaw

* A router

* A pencil

* A tape measure

* A square

* A drill

* A Forstner bit

* Safety goggles

* Ear protection

* Dust mask

Instructions:

1. Measure the width and depth of the stair tread.

2. Draw a line on the tread with a pencil, marking where you want the rounded edge to be.

3. Set the depth of the circular saw to match the depth of the tread.

4. Cut along the line that you drew with the pencil, using the circular saw.

5. Use the jigsaw to cut out the rounded edge.

6. Use a router to smooth the edge.

7. Drill a hole in the tread with the Forstner bit, where the rounded edge will meet the riser.

8. Set the depth of the drill press to match the thickness of the tread.

9. Drill a hole in the riser, where the rounded edge will meet the riser, using the same Forstner bit.

10. Insert a dowel or screw into the holes to connect the tread to the riser.

Tips:

* Use a scrap piece of wood to test your cuts before you start cutting the actual stair tread.

* Be careful not to cut too deeply into the tread.

* Wear safety goggles, ear protection, and a dust mask when working.
