• Perhaps one of the most commonplace of landscape materials, bricks are a durable material that can work well in just about any yard. While making a decision about design and color, it is important to choose a brand that is meant to withstand outdoor conditions and weathering. For an ecologically friendly option, recycled bricks are available from select outlets and specialty stores in most regions.

Stone Edging

• Stone is one of the most diverse materials on the market. Not only does it come in multiple colors and textures, but it provides a color variation not available in most materials, often providing warm accents to add visual interest to the design. Stone edging can be purchased in standard shapes and sizes, but can also be customized for different designs and layouts. Stone tends to lend a more upscale feel to its surroundings.

Concrete Pavers

• Concrete pavers have an advantage over other types since they can be purchased in pre-molded designs. Like other materials it can be found in several colors and textures. If pre-cast isn't for you, or the design isn't a standard one, regular concrete can be shaped and formed to provide support. Depending on your needs, this may be advantageous, as this method can provide specific color, texture or other design matching. Again, prior to purchasing, make sure they are approved for outdoor use.
