How to Graft Papaya Trees

Grafting papaya tress is successful using the budding method of grafting. This is best performed in the spring. When planting papaya trees, it is necessary to plant two trees so they can cross-pollinate each other, producing the best fruit. These trees grow well in a wide variety of conditions from full sun to shade. They require the full sun to fruit properly though, making trees in the shade less productive. Grafting can add a branch to the tree and increase fruit production.
