Patio Brick Colors

Patio bricks can enliven a backyard landscape. If you are installing a new brick patio, choose an attractive brick color to match the architecture of your home. "Brick is readily available in many sizes, colors, textures and shapes that can be adapted to achieve virtually any desired style or expression," asserts Masonry Magazine.Think beyond traditional red brick and incorporate stylish colors into your patio design.
  1. Slate Gray

    • Gray bricks are an understated choice for your patio that work best for stucco and contemporary style homes. Choose from a variety of color tones when selecting gray bricks. If your home architecture is very trendy, lean towards darker gray bricks to those that are almost black. With dark color bricks, it is best not to construct high walls around your patio as the dark colors can create a dreary mood if overused. A raised patio floor with gray steps is sufficient for this design. If you need safety rails, opt for a contemporary wrought iron fence.

    White

    • White bricks are appropriate options for traditional style homes. Add a white brick patio to a house with red brick as a dynamic contrast. White brightens the space but will dull quickly if your patio is a high-traffic area. Add a protective sealant to your patio floor so that it is easy to clean after heavy rains and outdoor events. Tudor style homes also work well with white brick patios. In this case choose an off-white rather than pure white to match the earth tones of the home.

    Mosaic

    • Exotic architecture, such as Spanish style homes, are accentuated by mosaic brick. The roof color used in Spanish architecture matches very closely with red brick, but you can avoid a common style by blending an assortment of earth tone bricks in your patio. Finishes are available in iridescent colors to further accentuate the surface of your patio. With mosaic brick, the more visible the brick, the more attractive the design. Add high walls and an outdoor fireplace to create your own private haven for relaxation.
