Instructions:
1. Cut Lumber:
- Using a saw, cut the 2x6 lumber into four 8-feet lengths and two 2-feet lengths.
2. Mark Center Points:
- Measure and mark the center point on each of the 8-feet lumber.
3. Drill Holes for Threaded Rods:
- Using a 1/2-inch drill bit, drill a hole through the center point of each 8-feet lumber. Make sure to drill straight and go all the way through.
4. Insert Threaded Rods:
- Insert a threaded rod into each of the holes.
5. Attach Crossbar:
- Take two of the 2-feet lumber and position them horizontally at the center point of the upright 8-feet boards.
- Insert the other two threaded rods through the holes and attach the crossbar with hex nuts and spring washers on both sides of the post. Tighten the nuts securely with a wrench.
6. Check Alignment:
- Use a level to ensure that the upright posts are vertical and the crossbar is horizontal. Adjust as necessary and tighten the nuts again if needed.
7. Spray Paint:
- Spray paint the field goal posts with your preferred color, such as white or yellow. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.
8. Install in the Ground:
- Determine where you want to place the field goal posts in your backyard.
- Dig two holes about 2 feet deep and 1 foot wide.
- Place the posts in the holes and backfill the soil around them, tamping it down firmly.
Safety Precautions:
- Wear safety goggles and gloves while working with tools and materials.
- Be careful when drilling and handling the lumber.
Your backyard field goal posts are now ready for some fun football or soccer practice. Enjoy!
