Instructions

    • 1

Put on the plastic gloves to protect your hands from the cement and place newspaper on your working space to protect the surface. These allow for easy cleanup of your hands and work space.

    • 2

Prepare the molds by spreading a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the inside of the 9-inch pie pans.

    • 3

Combine the quick-mix cement with water in a bucket according to the directions on the package. Use a wooden spoon or wooden paint stick to stir the mixture.

    • 4

Pour the cement mixture into the pie pan molds, tap the pans on the ground to bring any air bubbles to the top, and smooth the top of the mixture with a metal spatula. Time is of the essence as this cement mixture dries at a very fast rate.

    • 5

Work quickly, arranging the colored gems or rocks into the cement in your own design, and gently press them into the wet cement so they are flush with the top.

    • 6

Allow the cement to dry for at least 24 hours before removing the mold. Add concrete sealant to the molds according to the sealant directions; this helps to protect your stepping stones from weather damage.
