Measure the area that you plan to install the fencing, and determine how many posts and how much footage of fencing you'll need. Also consider the purpose of the fencing, as this will define the type of fencing used.
Order or make your fence panels. For a simple makeshift fence, you'll only need straight 1-by-2-inch pieces of lumber cut to length to fit onto the posts and painted with varnish to protect them from the elements.
Walk along the line where you will install the fencing, and mark the spaces for digging the post holes.
Dig the post holes 1 foot deep with a post hole digger. If you are making bamboo panels, you'll also want to dig a trench that is 1 foot deep and 2 feet wide with plywood pieces positioned 3 inches into the trench on both sides for installing cement borders.
Mix the cement in the wheelbarrow, adding the manufacturer's recommended amount of water and mixing until you get a frosting-like consistency.
Pour 1 inch of cement into the post holes and set the posts. Make sure that the posts are level, and then backfill the holes with cement until they are level with the surface. Let the posts dry for 24 to 48 hours before installing the rest of your fencing. For the bamboo trench, pour the cement into the border until it is level with the surface. You can remove the wood pieces and backfill the trench with soil after 12 hours.
Install your fencing by screwing the pieces onto the posts with 2-inch deck screws. Check that each piece is level before securing to the post.
