Sweep the deck. Remove any dirt or grime using a power washer. Hammer down any nails that may be protruding from the deck that could harm the synthetic lawn. Wait for the deck to completely dry.
Unroll the synthetic lawn on the deck. Allow 2 inches of synthetic lawn to ride up the walls and off the deck. Let the synthetic lawn expand for two hours before cutting.
Press a putty knife against the synthetic lawn along the wall and cut with the utility knife. To cut synthetic lawns next to railings, make slits that allow the turf to butt up against the railing. Trim pieces that hang off the deck.
Make seams by overlapping two pieces of synthetic lawn. Oftentimes synthetic lawns don't cover the entire deck. Synthetic lawn pieces generally come in widths of 75 to 157 inches. Cut through both pieces so they butt against each other. Press adhesive tape on the back of the seams and press the two pieces together on the tape.
Apply adhesive glue along the perimeter of the synthetic lawn, using the trowel to spread the glue. Press down on the synthetic lawn so it attaches to the glue. Work your way around the perimeter of the deck.
Push a 50-pound carpet roller over the synthetic lawn to help adhesion. Wait 24 hours to use the deck.
