How to Remove Dry Marker From a Countertop

No matter how the dry marker stain got on your countertop, there are a number of stain-lifting tricks that can fade and remove it. Although the child artist in your family may not agree, discolorations from writing utensils such as pens and markers can cause a dirty and marred appearance on a countertop. Eliminate such stains by using a combination of household products and soft abrasive scrubbers to clean and refurbish your counter without damaging it.

Things You'll Need

  • Soft sponge
  • Mild abrasive cleaner
  • Paper towels
  • Nonacetone nail polish remover
  • Cotton balls

Instructions

      Dampen a soft sponge with water, and wipe the dry marker stain with it.

      Apply a mild abrasive cleaner to the damp sponge, and wipe the stain in a circular motion. Wet a paper towel, and then rinse the cleaner off.

      Pour nonacetone nail polish remover onto a cotton ball, and blot the stain with it. Wet a paper towel to rinse off nail polish residue.
