Soak the aluminum pot in a sink full of warm water and liquid dish soap. Let the pot soak for two to three hours to loosen the burned residue. Scrub on the loosened residue with a nylon scrub pad.
Fill the pot with warm water to remove stubborn burned residue. Add one to two squirts of liquid dish soap and simmer the water for 20 minutes on the stove top. Turn the heat source off to let the pan cool for 30 minutes and use a wood scraper or spoon to remove the burned food.
Cover the burned stain with warm water. Add 1 tsp. of white vinegar for every cup of water inside the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil for two to three minutes. Pour out the mixture, scrub on the pot with a nonabrasive sponge, and rinse it with cool water.
Restore the shine on a burned aluminum pot by mixing 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar with 1 quart of warm water inside the pot. Boil the mixture for 10 minutes and then allow it to cool. Scrub the pot with a washcloth and rinse it with cool water.
Cut a lemon slice in half and sprinkle salt over it. Rub on the inside and outside of the pot. Rinse the aluminum pot with clean water to remove the lemon juice and salt.
