How to Recover a Shrunken Wool Sweater

Step 1: Soak the sweater in cool water.

Fill a sink or basin with cool water and add a mild detergent. Then flip the sweater inside out and soak it completely for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: Rinse the sweater thoroughly.

Gently squeeze the sweater to remove excess water, but do not wring it out. Rinse the sweater thoroughly until all the detergent has been removed.

Step 3: Gently stretch the sweater.

Lay the sweater flat on a dry towel and gently stretch it back to its original shape. Be careful not to pull the sweater too much, as this may damage the fibers.

Step 4: Roll up the sweater in a dry towel.

Roll the sweater up tightly in a dry towel and press down to absorb any excess water. Leave the sweater rolled up in the towel for 10-15 minutes.

Step 5: Lay the sweater flat to air dry.

Unroll the sweater and lay it flat on a dry towel to air dry. Do not hang the sweater, as this may stretch it out of shape.

Step 6: Brush the sweater to restore its softness.

Once the sweater is completely dry, brush it gently with a soft brush to restore its softness and fluffiness.
