How to Fill the Swiffer WetJet Cleaner

The Swiffer WetJet cleaner makes washing the floor simple and convenient. There's no need to pour floor cleaner into a bucket or mix it with water. The Swiffer cleaner bottle contains all that's needed to clean the floor along with the Swiffer pad. However, the Swiffer cleaner bottle is not refillable and is difficult to open, forcing consumers to purchase a new bottle of Swiffer WetJet cleaner every few weeks. But persistence pays off, and you can remove the cap on a bottle of Swiffer cleaner to refill it with your own cleaning fluid.

Microwave-safe bowl
Hot pad
Rubber jar and bottle grip opener
2 cups white vinegar

Instructions

  Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup of water. Place the bowl inside your microwave.

  Heat the water on the highest heat setting for two minutes to bring it to a boil.

  Remove the bowl of water from the microwave and set it on a hot pad to protect your counter top surface.

  Hold the empty Swiffer cleaning fluid bottle from the bottom. Submerge the cap and 1 inch of the bottle neck into the boiling water. Hold the bottle there for 10 seconds.

  Remove the Swiffer bottle from the water. Place a rubber gripper over the top of the bottle and twist the cap in a counterclockwise direction to open it.

  Fill the Swiffer bottle with 2 cups of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Twist the cap back on. Secure the Swiffer cleaner bottle in the Swiffer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
