How to Clean an Eddie Bauer Down Coat

1. Read the care label. Before cleaning your down coat, read the care label to make sure you don't damage it. Some down coats can be machine-washed, while others require dry cleaning.

2. Spot clean stains. If your down coat has any stains, spot clean them with a mild detergent and a damp cloth. Be sure to test the detergent on a small, inconspicuous area of the coat before applying it to the entire garment.

3. Machine-wash your down coat (if it's safe to do so). If your down coat can be machine-washed, use a gentle cycle and cold water. Add a mild detergent and a fabric softener to the machine. Do not use bleach or fabric softener, as these can damage the coat's down filling.

4. Dry your down coat on low heat. After washing, dry your down coat on low heat in a dryer. Do not over-dry the coat, as this can also damage the down filling.

5. Fluff the coat. Once the coat is dry, fluff it up to distribute the down evenly.

6. Repel water and stains. To repel water and stains, spray your down coat with a water and stain repellent. Be sure to test the repellent on a small, inconspicuous area of the garment before applying it to the entire coat.
