DIY: Antistatic Plastic

Static electricity can cause plastic items such as balloons, lawn chairs and appliances to attract unattractive hair, dirt and dust or deliver a startling shock when touched. You can make or purchase an antistatic spray to treat plastic items and prevent these little annoyances. Homemade or commercial antistatic spray is effective on fabrics as well as plastic.

Things You'll Need

• Liquid fabric softener or antistatic spray
• Spray bottle

     Mix one part fabric softener with four parts water in a spray bottle. Alternately, you can purchase a commercial antistatic spray.

     Spray a light mist of the solution evenly over plastic objects and surfaces.

     Allow the spray to dry.
