How to Tie a Turle Knot

If you've ever gone fishing, you'd have heard of the Turle knot. Monofilament fishing lines are likely to stretch, and hence you need to practice tying the knot really well as this is the weakest link between the fish and you. There are many popular fishing knots, and before you start fishing next time, be sure you have a strong and secure knot, as otherwise you might lose the trophy of a lifetime. The knot should also be neat, otherwise it will break. The Turle knot is also known as the Turtle knot or the Major Turle's knot.

Things You'll Need

  • Hook with filament

Instructions

    • 1

Take the line and pass it through the eye in the hook and make a simple loop.

    • 2

Grasp the end of the line and carry it, making a simple overhand knot on the loop itself.

    • 3

Pass the loop thus formed over the hook and pull it up to form the shape.

    • 4

Create a double Turle knot by making another simple overhand knot by passing the line through the hook's eye.

    • 5

Make two loops, and make a simple overhand knot around both these loops. Pass both these loops over the hook. Pull both the parts of the fishing line in order to shape the knot against the eye.

    • 6

Lubricate the knot before tightening with the help of silicone fly floatant, water or even saliva. Do not put the line in your mouth while wetting it, as bacteria in the lakes might get into your body.
