How to Convert a Cabinet Into a Wine Rack & Glass Holder

Convert one of your cabinets into a wine rack and glass holder. Install lengths of PVC pipe inside the cabinet to house the wine bottles on the lower shelf of the cabinet. Use the upper shelf to install an under-mounted glass holder. The under-mount glass holders come in a variety of styles and are installed with screws. Keep the door on the cabinet so that you can close the wine rack and glass holder for a sleek and enclosed storage area.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • 4-inch PVC pipes, 96-inch lengths
  • Miter saw
  • Fine-grit sanding pad
  • Under-mount glass holder, screws included
  • Screw gun

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the inside dimensions of the bottom shelf opening. Divide the length and width dimensions by four to determine how many 4-inch-diameter pipes will fit inside the space. The depth of the cabinet shelf is the length required for the pipes.

    • 2

Lay the 4-inch pipe lengths flat on the table of a miter saw. Measure and mark the necessary number of pipes to length with a tape measure and pencil. Cut the pipes on the miter saw.

    • 3

Sand the cut edges of the pipes with a fine-grit sanding pad to remove any rough spots made by the saw. Clean off the dust with a rag.

    • 4

Slide the pipes onto the bottom shelf of the cabinet so that the ends are facing the cabinet opening. Stack the pipes in rows until you have filled the shelf with pipes. The pipes will act as bottle holders for the wine rack. You simply slide the bottles neatly into the pipes for storage.

Center the under-mount glass holder at the top of the cabinet opening. Drive the screws that were included with the holder through the mounting holes into the top of the cabinet with a screw gun. Close the cabinet doors to neatly store your wine and stemware.
