How to Deep Clean Carpet & Upholstery

Vacuuming a room can get the superficial dirt off of the carpet or upholstery’s surface. If you have stains from dirt, wine, or other foods, however, you might find it a little harder to get the stain out of the material. Deep cleaners are the best solution for getting these stains out of carpets and upholstery. Almost all deep cleaners are sold with upholstery extensions so you can deep clean chairs and couches, as well as the carpets in your home.

Instructions

  1. Deep Cleaning Carpets

    • 1

      Release the water canister from your deep cleaner. The water canister will be labeled as “Water Cannister” or something similar. Take the water canister to the sink and fill it up with hot tap water until it reaches the “Full” line. This will also be labeled on the water canister.

      Fill the deep cleaner’s solution reserve with the cleaning solution recommended by your deep cleaner’s manufacturer. Fill the solution reserve until it reaches the “Full” line. This will be labeled on the solution reserve.

      Replace the water canister and the solution reserve on the deep cleaner. Turn the deep cleaner on and run it along the carpet. Hold the trigger on the handle of the to disperse the cleaning solution onto the carpet.

      Pull the deep cleaner backward to the vacuum so it can suck up all of the water and the newly loosened dirt into the wastewater reservoir. Run the deep cleaner along the stains until you have completely cleaned the carpet.

      Detach the deep cleaner’s wastewater reservoir from the unit and empty it outside or into a toilet. Wash the wastewater reservoir to clean any remaining sediment of the stain out of the reservoir.

    Deep Cleaning Upholstery

      Release the water canister from your deep cleaner. The water canister will be labeled as “Water Canister” or something similar. Take the water canister to the sink and fill it up with hot tap water until it reaches the “Full” line. This will also be labeled on the water canister.

      Fill the deep cleaner’s solution reserve with the cleaning solution recommended by your deep cleaner’s manufacturer. Fill the solution reserve until it reaches the “Full” line. This will be labeled on the solution reserve.

      Connect the upholstery extension to the deep cleaner per your model. Turn the deep cleaner on and pull the trigger under the upholstery extension to release the deep cleaning solution onto the upholstery.

      Use the vacuumed tip of the upholstery extension to suck all of the water and newly loosened dirt off of the upholstery.

      Detach the deep cleaner’s wastewater reservoir from the unit and empty it outside or into a toilet. Wash the wastewater reservoir to clean any remaining sediment of the stain out of the reservoir.
