How to Shingle a Bay Window

1. Prepare the roof.

- Make sure the roof is clean and dry.

- Install ice and water shield around the perimeter of the bay window.

- Install starter shingles along the eaves.

2. Install the underlayment.

- Roll out the underlayment over the roof, starting at the bottom and working your way up.

- Overlap each roll of underlayment by at least 4 inches.

- Staple the underlayment to the roof deck.

3. Install the shingles.

- Start at the bottom of the bay window and work your way up.

- Overlap each row of shingles by at least 4 inches.

- Nail each shingle in place with 4 nails.

4. Trim the shingles.

- Use a utility knife to trim the shingles around the edges of the bay window.

- Be careful not to cut the shingles too short.

5. Seal the joints.

- Use a sealant to seal the joints between the shingles and the bay window.

- This will help to prevent water from leaking into the bay window.

6. Install the flashing.

- Install flashing around the bay window to help prevent water from leaking behind the shingles.

- The flashing should be made of a metal that is resistant to corrosion, such as aluminum or copper.

7. Inspect the shingles.

- Once you have finished installing the shingles, inspect them for any damage.

- Replace any damaged shingles immediately.
