1. Prepare the Surface:
- Ensure that the wall or surface where you'll install your galvanized metal siding is smooth and level.
- Remove existing siding or any other material covering the surface.
- Repair any damage or significant irregularities.
2. Install Drip Caps:
- Begin with the installation process by measuring your starting corner where the siding will be installed.
- Cut drip caps to the desired length and install them at the bottom trim edge of the siding.
- Secure the drip caps with screws or nails, ensuring they have a slight downward slope to direct water away from the building.
3. Install Corner Trim:
- Measure and cut corner trim pieces to fit the corners of your wall.
- Secure them in place using screws or nails.
4. Attach Starter Strip:
- Install a starter strip along the bottom of the wall.
- Align the bottom edge of the starter strip with the drip caps and secure it using screws or nails.
5. Install Galvanized Metal Siding Panels:
- The initial siding panel should be positioned at a corner where the drip caps and corner trims meet.
- Overlap the panel's edges with the corner trims to ensure proper water management.
- Fasten the panel to the starter strip and wall with screws or rivets, ensuring they're spaced according to the manufacturer's guidelines.
- Continue installing siding panels by sliding them into the previous panels' grooves.
- Overlap each panel by the recommended amount and secure them in place.
6. Finish with Top Trim:
- Once all the siding panels are installed, measure and cut top trim pieces.
- Secure the top trim along the top edge of the siding using screws or nails, ensuring a slight downward slope to prevent water pooling.
7. Seal the Siding:
- Use a quality mastic sealant or caulk to seal around window frames, door frames, trim, and any other gaps between the siding and other surfaces.
-This helps prevent water penetration and ensures proper sealing.
8. Install Flashing:
- Install flashing around doors, windows, and other areas with penetrations in the siding.
- Flashing helps direct water away from these vulnerable points and prevents water infiltration.
9. Final Inspection:
- Take a step back and inspect your work to ensure all panels are correctly aligned and secured.
- Check for any gaps, misalignments, or protruding fasteners that might affect the siding's performance or aesthetics.
10. Maintenance and Care:
- To keep your galvanized metal siding in optimal condition, regularly inspect for dirt, debris, or signs of rust or corrosion.
- Clean the siding using a soft brush and water to remove dirt, and apply a metal protector or sealant to prevent future corrosion and maintain the siding's longevity.
