Unplug the unit. Flip the correct switch on your breaker to cut the power. This will help you avoid electric shock while working with the unit.
Remove the bolts from the outer cover with a wrench. Use a flashlight to locate the blower. The blower is generally a round shape with blades or "fins" on all sides. In some cases, the blower is covered by plastic housing. Use the wrench to remove any components blocking the blower, then remove the blower itself. Mark each area so you remember where each component needs to be bolted back in place.
Mix ¾ cups of bleach with 1 gallon of lukewarm water. Dip or spray a rag with bleach solution and wipe away any mold, dust or dirt from the blower's blades. Vacuum any debris located inside the unit. For hard-to-remove dirt on the blower, use a soft bristled brush.
Bolt the blower and any other components back in place.
