How to Install a Snap Together Stove Pipe

The snapping system locks in place, so there is are not extra tools or hardware pieces needed to hold the pipe together. Snap-together pipe is a low-cost option for adding to a wood stove, and makes for a simple do-it-yourself project that most skill levels can handle.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of pipe needed from the stove connection to the point where the pipe meets the chimney. If the pipe requires a bend, measure from the stove to the start of the bend, and then measure from the end of the bend to the attachment point on the chimney. Cut the pipe length with a tin snips so there is at least 2 inches extra on each end to fit the pipe together.

Attach the pieces of pipe together by inserting the tongue end of one pipe into the groove end of another and pushing them firmly until they fit together with a snap. Some brands might require that you snap the pipe together and then twist the joint lock in place. Pull on both ends of pipe to verify they are securely in place.

Attach the bottom end of the pipe into the attachment point on the stove using the same snap-together process, and then attach the top of the pipe to the chimney. Attach both ends of an elbow joint, if there is a bend in the pipe, with the snap-together process.

Paint the pipe with a high-temperature paint to match the stove, if desired.
