Instructions:
1. Prepare the work area.
- Turn off the water supply to the shallow well by closing the main shutoff valve.
- Open a faucet near the well to allow any remaining water to drain out of the pipes.
- Place the bucket or container underneath the foot valve to catch any remaining water.
2. Remove the old foot valve.
- Use the screwdriver to pry loose the retaining screws on the top of the old foot valve.
- Carefully lift the old foot valve off the bottom of the well casing. Be careful not to drop it into the well.
3. Inspect the foot valve seat.
- Clean the foot valve seat using a wire brush or scouring pad to remove any debris.
- Check the seat for damage and replace the foot valve seat if it is damaged.
4. Install the new foot valve.
- Apply a layer of pipe sealant to the threads of the new foot valve.
- Carefully lower the new foot valve onto the foot valve seat.
- Tighten the retaining screws until the foot valve is snugly in place.
5. Test the foot valve.
- Turn on the water supply to the shallow well.
- Check for any leaks around the foot valve.
- If there are any leaks, tighten the retaining screws or apply a little more pipe sealant.
6. Replace the well casing cap.
- Replace the well casing cap and tighten it securely.
7. Turn on the water supply to the faucets.
- Open the faucet near the well and allow the water to run until it is clear of any air bubbles.
- Turn on any other faucets in the house as needed.
Your foot valve is now replaced, and your shallow well should be working properly again!
