- Locate the shut-off valves for the hot and cold water lines to the sink. These valves are usually located beneath the sink or in a nearby utility closet.
- Turn the valves clockwise until they are completely closed.
- Place a bucket under the sink to catch any water
- Open the faucet to let the sink drain completely.
- Use a wrench to loosen and disconnect the hot and cold water lines from the faucet connections.
- Be prepared for some water to leak out when the lines are disconnected.
- Disconnect the drain pipe from the sink. This may involve loosening the slip nut that holds the drain pipe in place.
- You can use a plumber's putty or Teflon tape to create a seal around the drain pipe if it is leaking and to prevent future leaks.
- Move the faucet with its still attached water lines to its desired location.
-Reconnect the hot and cold water lines to the faucet connections. Tighten the connections with a wrench.
- Reinstall the drain pipe and reconnect it to the sink. Tighten the slip nut to secure the drain pipe in place.
- Open the shut-off valves to restore the water supply.
- Check all connections for leaks and tighten them as needed.
- Turn on the faucet and check for any leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the connections until they stop.
- Clean up any mess created during the project and dispose of any old parts or materials.
