How to Grout a Backsplash Around Outlets

Step 1: Prepare the surface

1. Make sure the tiles are clean and dry.

2. If the tiles are porous, seal them with a grout sealer before grouting.

3. Apply painter's tape around the outlets to protect them from grout.

Step 2: Mix the grout

1. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for mixing the grout.

2. The grout should be mixed until it is smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Apply the grout

1. Use a grout float to apply the grout to the joints between the tiles.

2. Press the grout firmly into the joints.

3. Remove any excess grout from the surface of the tiles.

Step 4: Let the grout dry

1. Allow the grout to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2. This may take several hours or overnight.

Step 5: Clean the tiles

1. Use a damp sponge to clean the tiles and remove any remaining grout haze.

2. Dry the tiles with a soft cloth.

Step 6: Remove the painter's tape

1. Carefully remove the painter's tape from around the outlets.

Tips:

* Use a grout bag to apply the grout if you are working in a small area or if you want more control over the application.

* If you are working with a dark-colored grout, you may want to wear gloves to protect your hands.

* Be sure to clean the tiles thoroughly after grouting to remove any remaining grout haze.
