How to Make a Kermit the Frog Costume

* Green felt (2 yards)

* White felt (1/2 yard)

* Black felt (1/4 yard)

* Yellow felt (1/4 yard)

* Orange felt (1/4 yard)

* Red felt (1/4 yard)

* Purple felt (1/4 yard)

* Brown felt (1/4 yard)

* Light blue felt (1/4 yard)

* Fabric glue

* Wire coat hanger

* Pliers

Instructions

1. Print out the Kermit the Frog pattern pieces. You can find the pattern pieces online or in craft books.

2. Cut out the pattern pieces.

3. Pin the pattern pieces to the felt. Cut out the felt pieces.

4. Sew the body pieces together. Start by sewing the front and back pieces together along the shoulder seams. Then, sew the side seams together.

5. Sew the head pieces together. Start by sewing the front and back pieces together along the center seam. Then, sew the side seams together.

6. Sew the neck piece to the head. Turn under the raw edge of the neck piece and sew it to the head along the neckline.

7. Add the details to the head. Sew the eyes, nose, and mouth to the head. You can also add hair and ears.

8. Stuff the head and body. Stuff the head and body with stuffing until they are firm.

9. Sew the head to the body. Turn under the raw edge of the head and sew it to the body along the neck opening.

10. Make the arms. Cut two pieces of green felt that are 12 inches by 6 inches. Sew the long edges together, leaving the short edges open. Turn the arms right side out and stuff them with stuffing. Sew the short edges closed.

11. Make the legs. Cut two pieces of green felt that are 18 inches by 6 inches. Sew the long edges together, leaving the short edges open. Turn the legs right side out and stuff them with stuffing. Sew the short edges closed.

12. Attach the arms and legs to the body. Sew the arms to the body at the shoulder seams. Sew the legs to the body at the hip seams.

13. Make the collar. Cut a piece of white felt that is 6 inches by 12 inches. Fold the felt in half lengthwise and sew the long edges together. Turn the collar right side out and press it flat.

14. Attach the collar to the body. Sew the collar to the body along the neckline.

15. Make the tie. Cut a piece of red felt that is 6 inches by 18 inches. Fold the felt in half lengthwise and sew the long edges together. Turn the tie right side out and press it flat.

16. Attach the tie to the collar. Sew the tie to the collar at the center front.

17. Make the hat. Cut a piece of brown felt that is 12 inches by 18 inches. Fold the felt in half lengthwise and sew the long edges together. Turn the hat right side out and press it flat.

18. Add the details to the hat. Sew a button to the center front of the hat. You can also add a feather or a flower.

19. Attach the hat to the head. Sew the hat to the head at the hairline.

20. Your Kermit the Frog costume is now complete! Put it on and enjoy!

* If you don't have a sewing machine, you can hand-sew the costume pieces together.
