How to Add M-1 to Paint

M-1 is a paint and stain additive designed to prevent the growth of mold, mildew and algae for 3 years. M-1 and a successor product named MX-3 are manufactured by Connell Family, Inc. of Alpharetta, Georgia. Both products are compatible with all water and oil-based paints and stains and can be used inside and outside. The products have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and information provided by the manufacturer indicates the additive is comparatively environmentally friendly. These additives are slightly toxic to rainbow trout, but seem to have no harmful effect when ingested by ducks and quail.
