## Steps to Remove a Thermostat

1. Turn off the power to the thermostat. This can be done by flipping the circuit breaker that controls the thermostat or by removing the batteries from the thermostat.

2. Remove the cover from the thermostat. The cover is usually held in place by screws or clips.

3. Disconnect the wires from the thermostat. There will usually be two or three wires connected to the thermostat. Disconnect the wires by loosening the screws that hold them in place.

4. Remove the thermostat from the wall. The thermostat is usually held in place by screws or clips. Remove the screws or clips and then pull the thermostat away from the wall.

5. Install the new thermostat. Follow the instructions that came with the new thermostat to install it.

6. Turn on the power to the thermostat. Flip the circuit breaker back on or replace the batteries in the thermostat.

Tips for Removing a Thermostat

* If you are not sure which circuit breaker controls the thermostat, you can turn off all of the circuit breakers in your home and then try to remove the thermostat.

* If the wires are stuck, you can try to loosen them by wiggling them back and forth.

* Be careful not to drop the thermostat.
