- Adjustable wrench
- Pliers
- Replacement shower head and/or washers (if needed)
- Plumber's tape
Locate the main water valve for your home and turn it off. This will prevent water from flowing out of the shower head or shower body while you are working.
Use the adjustable wrench to loosen and remove the shower head from the shower arm. If the shower head is particularly stubborn, you may need to use pliers to help break it free.
Inspect the washer located at the base of the shower head. If it is worn out or damaged, replace it with a new one.
Wrap the threads of the shower arm with plumber's tape. This will help create a water-tight seal when the shower head is reinstalled.
Screw the shower head back onto the shower arm by hand. Then, use the adjustable wrench to tighten it securely.
Turn the main water valve back on to restore water flow to the shower. Check for leaks around the shower head. If there are any leaks, tighten the shower head further until the leak stops.
Turn on the shower and check to make sure that the water is flowing properly and that there are no leaks. If everything is working properly, your shower fixture is now repaired!
