How to Manually Light an Oil Burnham Boiler

Today, most boilers are lit through the power grid or through automatic gas power. However, in emergency situations, it is important to know how to manually power these devices. Burnham Boilers are a common type of boiler that takes a few steps to manually light.

  • 3/8-inch wrench
  • 1/4-inch nylon tubing

      Shut off the boiler completely by locating and switching the toggle in the back.

      Access the bleeder valve on the side of the fuel pump. Place your three-eighths-inch wrench around the nut on the bleeder valve.

      Unscrew the bleeder valve with the wrench. In the opening, insert the one-fourth-inch nylon tubing. Extend the tubing to the can of oil.

      Switch the burner back on with the toggle switch and tighten the bleeder valve. The Burnham Boiler will ignite and provide heat for your comfort.
