How to Install a Toilet on an Uneven Floor

Tools and materials:

- Measuring tape

- Level

- Shims

- Bolts and washers

- Toilet flange bolts

- Toilet wax

- Toilet

- Screwdriver

- Adjustable wrench

- Hacksaw

Instructions:

1. Measure the distance from the wall to the center of the toilet flange. This is the rough-in measurement, and it should be between 12 and 14 inches.

2. Check the level of the floor. If it is not level, you will need to shim the toilet flange to make it level.

3. Install the shims between the toilet flange and the floor. Make sure that the shims are evenly spaced and that the flange is level.

4. Insert the bolts through the holes in the toilet flange and secure them with the washers and nuts. Tighten the nuts until the bolts are snug.

5. Seal the base of the toilet with the wax ring. Remove any excess wax.

6. Set the toilet over the flange bolts and gently lower it into place. Make sure that the toilet is centered over the flange.

7. Tighten the flange bolts until the toilet is secure. Do not overtighten the bolts, or you could damage the toilet.

8. Install the toilet seat.

9. Turn on the water supply to the toilet.

10. Test the toilet for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the flange bolts or adjust the wax ring.

Tips:

- If your floor is very uneven, you may need to use a self-leveling compound to level it out before installing the toilet.

- Be careful when tightening the flange bolts. Overtightening the bolts can damage the toilet.

- Test the toilet for leaks after you have installed it. If there are any leaks, tighten the flange bolts or adjust the wax ring.
