How to Wire a 30 Amp Plug

## Tools and Materials

- 30 amp female connector plug

- 10/3 AWG electrical wire (black, white, and green)

- Wire cutter/stripper

- Screwdriver

- Electrical tape

Instructions

1. Prepare the electrical wire. Cut three 6-inch lengths of 10/3 AWG electrical wire. Strip 1 inch of insulation off of each end of the wire.

2. Connect the wires to the female connector plug. The female connector plug will have three terminals: black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground). Connect the black wire to the hot terminal, the white wire to the neutral terminal, and the green wire to the ground terminal.

3. Secure the wires. Use electrical tape to secure the wires to the terminals. Make sure that the connections are tight and there is no exposed wire.

4. Test the plug. Plug the female connector plug into an outlet and turn on the power. The plug should light up. If it does not, check the connections to make sure they are secure.

Tips

- Be sure to use the proper gauge wire for the amperage of the plug.

- If you are not comfortable working with electrical wiring, it is best to hire a qualified electrician.
