How to Install a Low Voltage Electrical Wall Box

Installing a low-voltage electrical wall box is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few minutes. Here are the steps involved:

1. Plan and select the location of your box.

* Decide where you want to install the wall box.

* Make sure it is in a location that is easily accessible and not behind any furniture or appliances.

* Mark the location of the wall box on the wall.

2. Drill the holes for the wall box.

* Use a drill bit that is the same size as the screws provided with the wall box.

* Drill the holes at the four corners of the wall box.

3. Mount the wall box to the wall.

* Insert the screws into the holes and tighten them until the wall box is secure.

4. Pull the wires through the wall box.

* Use a wire stripper to remove the outer jacket of the wire.

* Insert the wires into the hole on the back of the wall box.

* Make sure the wires are long enough to reach the device that will be connected to the wall box.

5. Strip the ends of the wires.

* Use a wire stripper to remove about 1/2 inch of insulation from the end of each wire.

6. Connect the wires to the device.

* Use a wire connector to connect the black wire from the wall box to the black wire from the device.

* Use a wire connector to connect the white wire from the wall box to the white wire from the device.

* Use a wire connector to connect the ground wire from the wall box to the green or bare copper ground wire from the device.

7. Test the wall box.

* Plug the device into the wall box.

* Turn on the power to the wall box.

* Check to make sure the device is working properly.

8. Close the cover of the wall box.

* Replace the cover of the wall box and secure it with the provided screws.
