How to Shorten a Vertical Blind Headrail

Step 1: Determine if you need to shorten the headrail

Before you begin shortening the headrail, you need to determine if it is necessary. To do this, measure the height of your window from the top of the frame to the bottom of the sill. Then, add 2 inches to this measurement. This will give you the minimum length that the headrail needs to be. If the headrail is shorter than this measurement, you will need to shorten it.
