Having the option of putting hanging plants outside can not only augment the growth of such plants but can also decorate the outside of the home. In many areas, there may not be much flora around the outside of a house. Having some well-placed hanging plants can add much to the appearance of a yard. Instructions

    • 1

Find an area of the tree that is suitable for attaching the plant hanger. Look for an area where the bark is not very rough and the surface is relatively flat.

    • 2

Hold the plant hanger in place in the chosen location on the tree. Hold the planter so that it is straight, ensuring that the plant will hang evenly.

    • 3

Mark the tree with a piece of chalk where the screw holes of the planter are located.

    • 4

Drill pilot holes on the chalk marks using a battery-operated drill with a 1/4-inch drill bit installed. Hold the drill at a 90-degree angle to the tree so that the holes are drilled straight.

    • 5

Align the holes in the plant hanger with the holes on the tree, and fasten the screws using the battery-operated drill with a driver bit installed. Ensure that the screws are snug, but do not overdrive them.
