Instructions

    • 1

Make sure the garment is washable. Step 6 gives the directions for non-washable fabrics. Try to remove the stamp pad ink stain as quickly as possible.

    • 2

Prepare a mixture of 1 qt. warm water, ½ tsp. dishwashing detergent and 1 tbsp. ammonia in a well-ventilated area. Soak the stained portion of the garment for 30 minutes. Rinse well. If the stain remains, continue to Step 3.

    • 3

Combine 1 quart of warm water and 1 tbsp. white vinegar. Soak the ink stain for one hour. This step may not work at all on cotton or linen. Rinse the garment well and allow to air dry. If the stain persists, move on to Step 4.

    • 4

Apply rubbing alcohol to the stain. You may need to dilute the rubbing alcohol. Test on an inconspicuous place first. When the stain loosens, blot the liquid and stain with a clean, absorbent pad. Rinse well and air dry. If the stain remains, continue to Step 5.

    • 5

Mix bleach, either non-chlorine or chlorine depending on the fabric, according to package directions. Allow the garment to soak in the bleach mixture. Remove from the bleach mixture, rinse and allow to air dry.

    • 6

Blot non-washable fabric with water. Use an eyedropper to apply a mixture of 1 qt. warm water, ½ tsp. dishwashing detergent and 1 tbsp. ammonia to the ink stain. Let garment sit for 30 minutes. Use the eyedropper to flush the stain.

    • 7

Repeat Step 4 if the stain remains. When you finish, flush the stain with water in the eyedropper.
