How to Remove Paint From Brick & Concrete

Step 1: Protect Surrounding Areas

Before you begin removing the paint, protect any areas that you don’t want to get paint on, such as windows, doors, and plants. You can use painter’s tape to cover these areas.

Step 2: Prepare the Brick

Use a wire brush to remove any loose paint and debris from the brick surface. This will help the paint remover work more effectively.

Step 3: Apply Paint Remover

Apply a thick layer of paint remover to the painted brick surface using a paintbrush. Be sure to follow the directions on the paint remover container for the best results.

Step 4: Let the Paint Remover Sit

Allow the paint remover to sit on the brick surface for the amount of time specified on the paint remover container. This may take several hours.

Step 5: Scrape Off the Paint

Once the paint has softened, use a paint scraper to scrape it off the brick surface. Be careful not to damage the brick itself.

Step 6: Rinse the Brick

Rinse the brick surface thoroughly with water to remove any residual paint remover.

Step 7: Allow the Brick to Dry

Let the brick surface dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Step 8: Seal the Brick

Once the brick surface is dry, apply a sealant to protect it from future damage.
