How to Build a Faux Column on Flat Wall

Materials Needed

- 2x4 lumber

- 1x4 lumber

- Wood screws

- Spackling

- Sandpaper

- Paint

Tools Needed

- Drill

- Sander

- Measuring tape

- Pencil

Instructions

1. Cut the 2x4 lumber. You will need four pieces that are 8 feet long and four pieces that are 3 feet long.

2. Cut the 1x4 lumber. You will need eight pieces that are 8 feet long and eight pieces that are 3 feet long.

3. Build the frames. Using the 2x4 lumber, build two rectangular frames that are 8 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Make sure the frames are square.

4. Install the 1x4 lumber. Attach the 1x4 lumber to the frames, spacing them evenly. You can use wood screws or nails to attach the lumber.

5. Spackle the holes. Use spackling to fill any holes or gaps in the wood. Let the spackling dry completely.

6. Sand the columns. Sand the columns until they are smooth.

7. Paint the columns. Paint the columns any color you like. You can use a solid color or a textured paint.

8. Install the columns. Once the paint is dry, install the columns in the desired location. You can use wood screws or nails to attach the columns to the wall.
