How to Light a Narrow Room

      Choose light wall colors like beige, cream or subtle hues with a hint of gray, to add width to the space.

      Assess the area for the amount of natural light that enters the room. Install skylights if possible to take advantage of natural light. Leave windows uncovered to infuse as much natural light as possible.

      Place lighting elements around the perimeter of the room to visually push the walls out to create the illusion of a wider and larger space.

      Position recessed halogen lights with adjustable fixtures approximately 12 to 16 inches away from the walls to direct light where it is needed.
