How to Make a Round Chinese Lantern

Materials:

* 2 pieces of red cardstock

* 1 piece of black cardstock

* Scissors

* Glue

* Hole punch

* String or ribbon

Instructions:

1. Cut out two circles from the red cardstock. Each circle should be about 6 inches in diameter.

2. Fold each circle in half twice.

3. Unfold the circles and lay them flat.

4. Glue the two circles together along one side, so that you create a tube.

5. Fold the top and bottom edges of the tube down about 1 inch.

6. Glue these folded edges down.

7. Cut out several small shapes from the black cardstock. These can be any shapes you like, such as stars, moons or flowers.

8. Glue the black shapes onto the outside of the lantern.

9. Use a hole punch to make two holes in the top of the lantern, on opposite sides.

10. Thread a piece of string or ribbon through the holes and knot it to hang the lantern.

You have now made a beautiful Chinese lantern!
