Turn off the electrical breaker that relates to the electrical box to which you'll fasten the capiz shell chandelier. Once the power is off, position a ladder or stepladder below the existing light or chandelier, remove the light from the electrical box, and detach the wires.
Read the instruction manual for the capiz shell chandelier to determine if it has any specific installation instructions. If so, adhere to them; if not, install the chandelier as you would with any other ceiling-mounted light.
Attach the chandelier's mounting bracket to the electrical box by attaching it with screws. Electrical boxes are a standard size and shape, so the light's bracket will fit correctly.
Connect the wires from the electrical box with the chandelier wires using screw-on electrical connectors. Consult the chandelier's instructions for wiring specifics, but typically, attach the black wire to the black wire and the white wire to the white wire. If the chandelier has a ground wire, which is often green, loosen the green screw in the electrical box, wind the tip of the wire around the screw and tighten the screw back down.
Hold the capiz chandelier in one hand after you have connected the wires; do not allow the light to hang only by the wires. With the other hand, position the light's canopy or base over the electrical box, pushing any excess wire into the box as you go. Use a screwdriver to tighten the chandelier's mounting screws to the mounting bracket.
Restore power to the electrical circuit after you have finished installing the capiz chandelier.
