Wall Art Paint Treatment Ideas

Use your imagination when painting. Paint can be used on your walls in methods that are a lot more original than just applying a couple of coats. Additionally, decorated walls add life to rooms and let you express your personality. So let your creativity show with some inventive wall art paint treatments for your home.
  1. Art

    • Hang one or several empty, glassless picture frames on the wall, then paint any picture, pattern or design that you like on the wall inside the frames. You can paint sunbursts, silhouettes, flowers, polka dots, a lattice motif, a geometric print, stars, random shapes, or whatever you like. And there is an endless selection of paint colors available to choose from, so you can make your wall art fit the color scheme of any room. You can even leave the interior space blank and paint the frames a unifying color instead.

    Scene

    • Commit to creativity by painting a mural on the wall. Hire a professional artist to paint your mural if you want something complex and aren't confident in your skills. An easy do-it-yourself kit that uses stencils or vinyl decals is another option, but if you’re artistically inclined or if the painting is very simple, just try it freehand. Recreate whatever scene captures your fancy: a city skyline, an orchard of blooming trees, lions in the jungle, an underwater seascape, a mountain lake or sandcastles on the beach. You can always paint it out and try again if you don't like the result.

    Bands

    • Stripes are an eye-catching and versatile paint treatment. They can be vertical, diagonal or horizontal. You can paint them on all the walls in the room or on just on accent wall though you can make the whole room striped with two or three fun colors. You can alternate two colors, three colors or as many as you like. Use pastel shades for a little girl’s room; use a team’s colors for a guy’s "man cave."

    Dual

    • Try a two-tone treatment. Paint the top half of the walls in the room one color and the bottom half a different color. You could use two colors of the same shade, such as pink and mauve or periwinkle and navy, or you could use two complementary, colors, such as gray and maroon, or brown and tan. Also, consider making the two colors really pop by installing a chair rail between them.
