How to Decorate a Foyer With a Green Tile Floor

Decorating a foyer may be challenging because of the lack of space and often odd shape. Some foyers are long and narrow or boxy. Foyers need to serve a purpose and still be welcoming to guests.

Determine what style of foyer you want. Contemporary, old-world, country and cottage are some decor styles. If you want an old-world look, choose earthy color shades with wood and wrought iron accents. Green tiles work well with an old-world look, particularly if they are a rich, earthy green.

Select a wall color that goes with green tile. Work with a neutral color that doesn't stand out -- such as cream, white and grays -- or opt for a monochromatic, complementary or analogous color. Dark-green tile and light-green walls are monochromatic. Red, orange and purples may be complementary depending on the hue. Analogous colors for green include yellow-green or blue-green.

Add a focal point to the room. A mirror across from the door adds depth to the room. Include a sitting area and table. For long, narrow foyers, use furniture that fits. A bench with a side table provides a place to sit and also stores items. Embellish the decor with items such as a vase full of flowers, books, magazines or candles.
