Ideas for Floral Table Decorations

Floral displays add festive flair and a pop of color to a table. Flowers can be elegant or whimsical and can evoke a feeling of cheer or set a mood of romance. Create table decorations, such as centerpieces and charming place settings, using real or fake flowers. Incorporate other decorative items into the floral arrangements to add interest and a seasonal flavor.
  1. Green and Pink Floral Display

    • Create a long-lasting table centerpiece using faux flowers and sparkling decor pieces. Fill half of a large square or cylinder-shaped clear vase with decorative green glass gems. Nestle the stems of various faux pink flowers, such as lush peonies, roses, hydrangeas or stargazer lilies, into the gems for a secure fit.

    Basket Full of Flowers

    • Design a charming, country-inspired floral display for casual parties or picnics. Soak a block of floral foam in cool water and place it in a white or brown woven basket. Insert fresh flower stems into the floral foam, creating an eye-catching arrangement. Customize the display by using any type of flowers, such as yellow and orange tulips, vibrant gerbera daisies or a handful of just-picked wildflowers.

    Floating Flower

    • A floating flower and candle display makes a simple and stunning table centerpiece. Fill a round clear glass bowl with water. You can enhance the water by adding a few drops of any food coloring shade. Another way to add a pop of color to the bowl is to place a layer of colorful glass gems on the bottom. Flatten the head of a fresh flower, such as a daisy, and allow it to float on top of the water. Surround the flower with floating candles. For an elegant display, use a white flower head and all white candles. To create a tropical look, fill the bottom of the bowl with small seashells and enhance a vibrant flower head with bright orange, pink and yellow candles.

    Harvest-inspired Place Settings

    • Delight Thanksgiving dinner guests with individual floral place settings. Fill rustic tin sugar bowls or orange and yellow flower-enhanced vintage teacups with cut-to-fit pieces of floral foam. Insert twigs of red berries, autumn leaves and stems of small faux harvest-hued flowers, such as deep red roses, yellow daisies, poppies and ranunculus, into the foam. Set one display next to each guest's place setting; prop a name card against the decor if you wish.
