Glazing produces unique faux finishes to a painted surface. The garage door often takes centerstage in modern homes. Adding a glaze to this surface can greatly enhance the look and style of your home's exterior. A glaze provides a base for another color to create a faux finish atop a base paint color. Oil-based paints require an oil-based glaze. However, oil-based glaze does not affect latex base paints. The glaze dries slowly and allows the painter to apply various faux finishes using tools such as a stiff brush, a sponge or a rag.
